Things No One Tells You

Growing older is a journey of discovery, where some lessons are handed to us gently and others are forged through hardship. Each year brings a new layer of wisdom. To kick off my blog, I wanted to share a few fundamental truths I’ve gathered along the way:

Faith and Character

  • The Ultimate Connection: Above all else in this world, your relationship with Allah SWT is what truly matters. Devote yourself to building that bond; when you invest effort into your faith, the rewards will manifest in your life in ways you never expected.

  • Integrity Beyond Ritual: Faith isn't just about outward displays or checking boxes. While prayer and fasting are essential, being a true Muslim means embodying those values in every interaction. It’s about how you treat people when no one is watching.

Navigating Life's Highs and Lows

  • Embracing Inequity: Life isn't always fair, and that’s a reality we have to accept. Whether you’re winning or losing, remember that both are temporary states.

  • The Grey Areas: You don't have to choose between grief and joy; often, you’ll be feeling both at once. Life isn't lived in black and white, so learn to embrace the complexity of your emotions.

  • The Power of Discomfort: Growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone. Change is the only constant, so get comfortable with the feeling of being unsettled.

Relationships and Self-Worth

  • The Ebb and Flow of Friendship: People will enter and exit your life. If someone chooses to walk away, let them go with grace.

  • Cherish the Gems: The friends who stand by you during your darkest chapters are rare. Hold onto those who uplift and support you—they are truly invaluable.

  • Silence the Ego: Life moves fast. Don't let pride stop you from telling people you love them or fighting for the relationships that matter.

  • Inner Strength: As you age, you’ll discover a new sense of confidence. Guard it fiercely. Be your own strongest advocate and start every day by affirming your own worth.

Mindful Reflection

  • The Daily Audit: Make time to look inward. Before you sleep, ask yourself: Did I build people up or tear them down today? Constantly check the state of your heart and strive to be better tomorrow.

  • The Gift of Today: Never lose sight of gratitude. Every morning you wake up is a fresh opportunity from Allah SWT to grow, change, and start again. That, in itself, is the greatest blessing.
